Central Coast British Car Show 10/01

Left the house at 6:15 and headed west on the 101 Fwy for Camarillo, where I left the freeway and headed for Hueneme and Channel Islands Harbor to meet up with other club members for the annual all-British Car Show. But before I arrived at the show I made a breakfast stop at the ”Best Breakfast Cafe” at Pleasant Valley Rd and Savier Rd. After lots of coffee and a Filling breakfast I proceeded to the harbor to join Five other big Healeys, two Jensen Healeys, Five Bugeyes, and an MGB participating in the show. Some of these members had been in town since Saturday, having toured the Mullin Museum.

This is always a nice show, with a great venue on the park grass next to the marina, lots of shade, a farmers’ market down the street and a very appreciative crowd of spectators. Members on hand with their cars were: Dan and Laraine Burrola – BJ8, Bill Hoyt – 100, Jim Huizdos – BN7, Steve Karolyi – BN7, Steve Magoffin – BJ8, and me – BJ7. In Bugeyes were: Greg Aden, Ralph Deex, Emil Joseph, Clark Lewis, and Chris and Jerry Lockwood. Driving the Jensen Healeys were Peter and Janet Hutchings and Chuck Lakowski. And that MGB? Nancy Asahina was riding shotgun in that car.

Every year there are members who will stop by to visit and check out the cars.

This year was no different and Peter and Alexandra Roses, Lon Bender, Charlie Hart and Larry Bryant, all made an appearance.

One of the activities at the show is the Peoples Choice voting for the best car in the different marques and subgroups. In the Austin-Healey 100/3000 class Bill Hoyt took First place.

In the Bugeye class, First place went to Chris Lockwood (trophy accepted by husband, Jerry) and second place went to member Ralph Deex (trophy accepted by wife, I think). Moss Motors representatives were on hand to present an Award of Excellence. The winner out of all the cars in the show was our very own Greg Aden with his gray Bugeye Sprite.
