San Dimas Sherif’s Station Car Show 7/16

I’ve been looking for an event on the eastern side of LA County that might draw in some members from the Riverside/San Bernardino area. I figured the community car show supporting the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station might be the ticket. Then ‘climate change’ rose up and baked the hell out of that idea. I decided to still go and check it out.

The show is held at the City Civic Center, and it is a very nice venue. Lots of mature trees, a shopping center directly across the street, plenty of vendors, volunteers making pancake breakfasts and hot dog lunches, good music and an appreciative crowd of spectators.

I thought I was arriving early at 7:45 but ended up being placed in the “back 40” with a limited number of cars. I did have lots of shade, a pizza vendor directly across the parking area and a soft-serve ice cream trucked parked 100 feet away. The classics on display were the usual grouping of American cars of all eras. European cars were represented by about five VWs, a mix of bugs and vans, one Porsche 356, and my 3000 MkII.

I enjoyed the laid-back vibe and all the volunteer groups on hand.

After the awards were given out, around 16 of them, the show ended close to 3pm. Time to jump on the 210 Fwy west and head for home. I think I’ll be back next year, just hope it’s a little cooler.
