Super Car Sunday 2/5

Recent experience has shown that arriving at Pierce College at 7:00am is not necessary. A steady stream of cars arriving around 8:00am and the mid-50's weather told me I could arrive after 7:30. Turns out that was too late to see Phil Caliva and Dex Kaytis, who arrived about 6:45 and left by 7:15 when no one else showed up. The two were in Phil’s latest wheels, a 1940 Ford Deluxe Tudor and they decided to head down to Paradise Cove.

As I pulled into the lot, I saw Jack Gies parking his BJ8 and start wiping down the car and dressing the wheels. I parked next to him and did a little detailing to make Scarlet look presentable. Then it was off to the food truck for coffee and a breakfast burrito.

After eating it was time to do a walk about and check out the few hot rods that showed for Marque Day and look at the other interesting cars on display. While all this was going on Phil and Dex were enjoying their drive out to Kanan Dume Road until it came to a sputtering halt. The mechanical fuel pump had failed. Then Phil’s retro flip phone gave up the ghost while trying to call AAA. Dex was able to call AAA and get a flatbed tow and their adventure ended at Phil’s shop.

Jack and I on the other hand, continued to enjoy the car show, answer questions about our cars and Austin-Healey's in general and thank the heavens for gradually warming temperatures.
