Quarantine Break-Out Cruise 5 18

Breaking free of lockdown from the Coronavirus, several Healey enthusiasts from the club ventured out on a “Quarantine Break-out Cruise” in SoCal.

We got the cobwebs off our Healeys, packed up a picnic lunch, including beverages, and met at the Temecula Creek Inn at 11am on Sunday, May 18th (with, of course, our face masks and practicing “social distancing”). It was a beautiful sunny day...

not overly warm, but comfortable. There, we found a great picnic area under a shaded veranda with seats and tables and enjoyed our lunch while catching up on the past several months of seclusion and boredom.

Following lunch, we headed south on CA 79 for about 50 miles, past Lake Henshaw to Julian. For those who attended the last California Healey Week, this canyon was one of the drives we took last May. It reminds me of the canyons in east OC, with the rolling hills, many oak trees and windy roads. Definitely a great Healey drive! Once in Julian, we stopped at one of the pie stores and some participants sampled the local delights.

Attending from the club were Ed & Abby Neumeyer, Steve & Cindi Kirby, Terry Cowan & Lisa Mandell, Jay & Katy Miller, Mike & Kathy Scroggie and Rick & Allie Snover from the San Diego club. Since we had a quorum of the Board attending, we decided to grant Spirit Award points to those participating (eat your hearts out, Dex Kaytis, Chuck Lakowski and Phil Caliva... LOL!)
