On October 12th, AHA members Dexter Kaytis, Chuck Lakowski, Randy Clary , and myself attended the Annual San Diego British Car Day show along with 220+ other British cars. It was held next to the Bay at Spanish Landing . The smallish venue was packed to the gills, as they say, with cars. Chuck and Terry brought their Jensen Healey’s, Dexter his Big Healy and I brought my Green Bugeye.
It was a beautiful Sunday with the temperatures in the high 70’s and a nice ocean breeze in the afternoon. With over 30 different classes and some classes mixed together, it was an ordeal to look at all of the great cars and decide the best in each class. There were only 6 Big Healey’s and 7 Sprites present but the marque was well represented with all the cars showing beautifully. Chuck took 1st in the Jensen Healey class with Randy taking 2nd and I was lucky enough to take 1st in the Sprite class.
It was also great to see the number of general public that showed up and packed the already full venue. Hopefully, more club members will choose to attend next year’s show even though it was a long drive home.
