LA Classic Auto Show - 3/16 & 17

On March 16-17th AHA members Corkey Holt, Terry Morgan, Don Newman, Tom Spangler and Bruce Steele showed their Healey’s in the club’s booth at the 3rd Annual LA Classic Auto Show at the Orange County Fairgrounds. My Green Bugeye was accepted to the “40 Shades of Green” display area.

This year they moved the event from the LA Convention Center to the OC Fairgrounds and decided to put the car club's displays outside the main buildings in various parking lots; which put us way out in never, never land. It was also noted that many of the British clubs that attended the prior shows passed on the event this year because of this. This was not too bad on Saturday but when most of the car clubs decided not to return on Sunday that made us an island at the end of a large empty parking lot with the Mercedes Benz and Land Rover club’s booths.

Special thanks to Mike Scroggie who brought the booth’s tent and table and manned the booth both days, George Marino and Tony Trentacost for help manning the booth on Saturday and Tim McNiff for his help on Sunday. Members joining us for lunch on Saturday were Dex Kaytis, Gary Barmore, Jay Miller, and Chuck Lakowski.

It is too bad the organizers missed the boat on the event this year. It was too spread out and hopefully they will get it back to the great event it was the first two years. On the upside, Blake Burgy of Moss Motors stopped by and said they may be interested in sponsoring a British Car area for next years show and if they do we may return.
