Festival of Whales - 3/9 & 10

Again this year, our club organized the British Invasion Car Show at the Dana Point Festival of Whales on March 9th and 10th. Although rain caused the cancellation of the kickoff parade and suppressed activities during the first weekend, the weather during the British Invasion show was mostly sunny and clear. Attending were owners of about 30 cars each day, including Austin Healeys, Jaguars, Triumphs, MG’s and a few lesser marques like Lotus, Cobra, Morgan and a rare Jowett Jupiter. Like prior years, our cars were parked on the grass median overlooking the Dana Point marina.

On Saturday evening, thanks to George Merino’s arrangements, about 20 of our group walked over the the Dana West Yacht Club for cocktails and a delicious dinner. Several members stayed overnight at the Marina Inn, within walking distance to the car show area.

On Sunday the group again took advantage of George Merino's contacts and enjoyed lunch at the Yacht Club. By three o'clock in the afternoon things were winding down and everyone started packing up and heading for home.

Club members attending on Saturday only included Van Schutz, Willy Pesnec, Alan & Tina Perry and Lon Bender; Sunday only was Tim McNiff; and both days were Mike & Kathy Scroggie, Mike Biss & Anna Johansson, Tom Biss, Chuck Lakowski, Greg Aden, George Merino and his passenger Bob Gomez, Dex Kaytis, Phil Caliva and Tom Rubinate. Attending without Healeys were Peter & Alexandra Roses and Tony Trentacost.
