Well, a new year of Healeying is upon us and we have a very busy schedule for 2019. Besides our standard monthly events we will have two Club events in March, the Festival of Whales and the Classic Car Show; two in April, Peter Roses' Tech Session on the 13th and Queens English on the 21st; and possibly two in May including Healey Week.
The club board has approved paying the event entry fee for members volunteering to help the car owners, who are displaying cars, man the club booth at the Classic Car Show at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
The requirement is that you agree to man the booth for a four-hour period during the weekend. If interested contact me. Also, the Saturday at the show has been designated as a Club event and those attending on that day get the additional point and we will have lunch at one of the locations on the Fair Grounds.
I have added the Balboa Island Fun Zone Cars and Coffee event to the calendar on the second Sunday of each month. We are looking for a similar event in the San Gabriel Valley area the same weekend for those of us who cannot or do not wish to drive down to Orange County. So, if you know of something let me or Tim McNiff know.
Several of us will be making the trip to my home state of South Dakota for the 2019 Healey Conclave in September. If you are planning on attending, I would recommend that you sign up ASAP. I understand that there are already over 200 cars signed up. Steve Kirby has set up what looks like a great plan for attending with his Best of the West tour, which allows you to enjoy a couple of weeks with your car. Look at it and let him know if you are interested in joining us.
I am also looking into adding some new and interesting events this year including visits to the Nethercutt or Mullen Museums and possibly going to the British Extravaganza Historic Car Races at Buttonwillow Raceway in early May.
See you at the events
