Vintage Auto Racing Association invites you to attend our premier event, The British Extravaganza. We are thrilled to be celebrating our 24th Annual British Extravaganza at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. As always, this event will feature the British Concours of Cars Car Show. In addition to VARA’s normal run groups, we will have the following special races:
The 17th Annual Kastner Cup
Grand Marshal Kas Kastner presides over his 17th annual Triumph-Powered car race featuring Triumph race cars from across the country.
The Union Jack Challenge
MG, Mini, Sprite, and Triumph Challenge Race.
Other small-bore British cars will be invited in the specialty races
Pre-War/Historic Run Group
Austin Healey Club, Jaguar Owners Club, Jaguar Drivers Club Joint Overnight Event
Let’s all get together and make a weekend of it:
Saturday, May 4:
- Meet up near Magic Mountain, drive to the track via I-5.
- Enjoy the morning races and car show.
- Drive your car on the track during the lunch break.
- Post-Race BBQ at the track and Car Show Awards.
- Overnight at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Bakersfield
- Rooms are $119 for Saturday night
- Convenient to several restaurants including Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace
Sunday, May 5
- Enjoy the races Sunday morning.
- Lunch time drive on the track
- Head home via Hwy 133 and Hwy 95 to Frasier Park, a great drive, and then catch I-5 for home.
Our friends Bill Rooklidge (Jaguar XK120 and Austin A40) and Terry Cowan (Austin Healey Sebring Sprite) will be racing. Also. Tom Colby and Bill Wilkman will be racing their Sprites and Tom has invited us to use his garage at the track for our HQ. Bill and Terry will have “hospitality” as well.
Sign-Ups
Please sign up online by clicking the "Register Now" link. That way we know you are coming and can communicate with you prior to the event. ALSO, you must sign up by mail with VARA. Click the link on this page to download the VARA form.
The entry fee is $55 per car and includes the Entry Fee, Car Show, Track Drives on Saturday and Sunday, Paddock parking and BBQ Dinner ticket (1 per car).
