Supercar Sunday 11/5

This month’s special Marque Day was European Classics. I expected to see a lot of cars that Git that billing, but I was sadly disappointed. There were none of the usual signs posted about no burnouts, no speeding, respect the car community, etc. There were hardly any European cars, there was no paddock set up. Fred Cohen and I in our “big” Healeys were soon joined by Phil Caliva and Chuck Lakowski, each driving an Alfa Romeo GTV from Phil’s stable of cars. The two were planning on going to the French/Italian Car show at Woodley Park following the Pierce College stop. A few other regular Brits, an MGB and a Morgan, pulled into the lot, but that was about it! Headed for the food truck to grab coffee and a burrito. No such luck! The propane system was down and the grills were ice cold. The truck packed up and left. No cars, no breakfast – Phil's solution, Trancas Canyon Country Market for their buffet breakfast. Headed up to the 101 north and then out to Kanaan Dume Rd. Then a run through the canyons to PCH, a right turn onto the Coast Highway and then past Zuma Beach, slowed some by the Malibu half-marathon which was taking place right then, and into the shopping center for breakfast.
After eating and a rest stop, it was back on to the Coast Highway south to Malibu Canyon and another canyon run to the 101 Fwy. Phil and Chuck peeled off to head for the show at Woodley Park and I continued to Glendale. A successful car adventure completed.
