Well, we are over halfway through fall and winter is coming quickly. The weather has cooled off, Thanksgiving is behind us, Hanukkah is upon us, and Christmas is just around the corner. I hope you get the chance to spend time with your family, friends, and loved ones and make some new friends as well. A big advantage to being in Southern California, Winter just means we wear a warmer jacket as we go out in our Healeys visiting and to the car gatherings.
Turkey Run- For those who missed our Girst annual Turkey Run, it was a great trip. It was coordinated by Brian Hubbard and Phil Caliva.
Although Brian could not join us, Phil did a great job leading us through some amazing back roads here in So Cal with a great lunch at the Camarillo airport café. We had some rain (sometimes pretty hard) but several intrepid souls drove like it was a nice sunny day. Gotta love Healey folks! CHW 2024- The CHW 2024 registration is open, so please go on the website and sign up. We hope to have over 70 cars joining in the adventure with great drives, wine tasting, tours and a car show with the Morro Bay Embarcadero as the backdrop.
Rendezvous 2024- As CHW 2024 wraps up, Steve Kirby has coordinated a tour group to join the Austin Healey Association of British Columbia for Rendezvous 2024 and to spend a couple of weeks touring through British Columbia. As always with Steve’s tours, it promises to be a great trip.
Christmas Party- As a calendar reminder, our annual Christmas party is planned for December 17th at the Shoreline Yacht Club. Sign-ups are open and we’re looking to have a good turnout.
If you haven’t yet signed up, please consider joining us. It promises to be another great gathering in a beautiful So Cal venue! Please remember to bring unwrapped Toys-for-Tots gifts and/ or batteries/ money for batteries! 75th anniversary of Austin Healey International meet- As you may know, 2027 will be the 75th anniversary of Austin Healey.
During CHW 2023, Steve Kirby and I talked to Marc Lewis and David Nock from the Golden Gate Austin Healey Club. We discussed jointly sponsoring the 75th anniversary as an International meet.
We presented the concept to the AHCA board and are in on-going discussions. The plan is to hold the meet in Lake Tahoe in the May 2027 timeframe. Will keep you up to date as the details become Girmer.
AHCA Board meeting- The National club held the delegates meeting in Indianapolis, IN. It was a 2-day gathering. A separate summary is provided. One key topic is asking the local only members to consider joining the national club. There are over 2000 members from across the US who are members. Steve coordinated having a copy of the Healey Marque magazine delivered so you would see how much information is available.
New members- Please join me in welcoming two new members to our club: Denis Watson from Laguna Beach and Darrin Thompson from Gardena. Denis has always liked Healey’s and is looking to pick one up. Darrin has a 62 BT-7 MKII. Welcome Denis and Darrin.
