Greetings Group, we had our Inland Empire Car Guys gathering on the first Saturday in September. We always try for it to be the first Saturday for consistency. This time, that meant it fell on Labor Day weekend. We also had the threat of rain. It was sprinkling in Redlands as we left. I thought we would likely have a poor turnout but that didn't happen. With or without their classic car these guys are car guys.
We did have a few classics and I applaud their commitment to enjoying their ride, regardless of the forecast conditions. We didn't spend as long in the parking lot as we normally do, but instead went inside, circled up some chairs and had a great spontaneous group chat.
Randy Main brought a ceramic piece for Show and Tell that appears to be a 10" x 14" ash tray. It's a handmade and signed piece emblazoned with a Triumph TR3. I suggested it might also be used as a high-end drip pan. Har Har.
Jim Cregg raved about a just completed trip to Zurich and Amsterdam that included a fantastic Viking cruise. Ask him for details. Dan Mensinger hopes to have his '65 Sunbeam Tiger back from the body shop next month.
Those brave souls in Classics; Kevin Spangler - '57 Chevy Nomad - took a big chance on the rain. Kelly Barton - '62 MGA MKII - with the top down no less. Tom Yaeger - '51 Jaguar MKV.
Those in future classics or others; Jimmie Davis - '03 Mercury Marquis, Ron and Sandy Davies - '13 Mazda Miata PHRT, Bill and Diane Wilkman - '90 Mazda Miata NA - probably should be in classics, Larry Reynolds - '08 Infinity G37 S, Bob Saber - '10 Jaguar XK, Dan Mensinger - '05 Ford Mustang, Randy Main - '07 Honda Civic, Jim Cregg - '20 Genesis G70. Randy Clary and his driver Sergio Ontiveros - '16 Lexus RX350 - Randy just had hip surgery.
All in all, a larger group than I expected. Thank you. Come join us next month if you can. We will meet on Saturday the 7th of October at Farmer Boys in Riverside on Alessandro Blvd. at 8am.
Cheers
