27th San Clemente Classic Car Show 6/10

The morning started out a little rough as Chuck Lakowski, George McHarris, my lovely wife Nancy and I, left our meeting place at exactly 0730 and drove a short one mile to the pre-staging area on PCH South, a few blocks from Carrillo St, where we had to turn right towards our assigned entrance point. Upon arrival we encountered a long line of cars waiting to get into the show, so we pulled in behind the last car and waited with no movement ahead of us and the line getting bigger behind us. About 8am the line started to move at a snail’s pace, after an hour of this pace cars were overheating, blowing water hoses and pulling out of line. Another thirty minutes of this and a volunteer directed us down an alley and then back a block past the start of the show and into our spots. I asked the volunteer how come we were directed on this route and all she said was some other director screwed up the whole routine and she could not figure out why when we had explicit written instruction on entry to the show and no one wanted to break ranks and go to another long line. OH WELL, we arrived at our spots and they were Nine but about three quarters of an hour later than we should have.

The rest of the day was fantastic with some low.  The car scene was full of spectacular quality and beauty, You name it or wished to see your favorite car and you would not be disappointed.

This show is at the top of my list of great one-day car shows in Southern California. Here is a list of other shows I attend almost every year, because they are worth the travel and it gives us a great chance to drive our lovely cars. Shows such as Belmont Shore on Second St., Seal Beach on Downtown Main St., Orange County Fairgrounds yearly Cruising For The Prostate Cancer Cure (around 3,500 cars attend this show in eight hours and the men at the show are given a free Prostate Cancer checkup. Later they send you the PSA results so you can show them to your Urologist. If the PSA numbers have gone up since the last year’s checkup, it can save many men including myself, from cancer by going thru the test for years.) Then there is the Downtown El Segundo show on Main St., the Culver City Car Show, our favorite Central Coast British Car Show in the Channel Island/Oxnard Area, The Downtown Manhattan Beach Police K9 dog Car Show, the Dana Point Lantern area show on Del Prado.

The members that attended the San Clemente show: Chuck Lakowski, George McHarris, Chris Savage, Tom and Page Rubinate, my wife Nancy and myself . I was told that other members were present but I didn't spot them or recognize Chuck Lakowski gets credit for the Photos.

Looking forward to next year! Ciao and Cheers
