Today was our official second recurring Club Event at Balboa Peninsula, followed by The Legacy Car and Coffee gathering in Tustin. Yesterday was the First event at Silverspur and Hawthorne Blvd in Rancho Palos Verdes, where the Hooligan car group meets, and that story is covered by Corky Holt, so let me get to the Balboa/Tustin Shows. Chuck Lakowski, Tim McNiff, and I met up at our favorite Balboa Peninsula Donut Shop and had our usual wonderful Croissants Breakfast sandwiches and Hot drinks. The drinks were needed after traveling in the chilly early morning, but a spectacular Sunrise made it worth being cold in the wee hours of the morning. We missed not seeing our other great friends: Dexter Kaytis, John Hummer, and our dynamo car-buddy, Alice Johnson; because they are carless, with their cars having repairs performed by our friend Russ Thompson. We had a great stop at Balboa and then we drove North on the 55 Fwy. to Tustin.
The show theme today was Elvis Presley’s birthday and they had a life size cardboard cutout propped up to give the flavor of the theme and a few 50’s and 60’s Cadillacs showed up to give the show credibility.
German, Italian, English, American Classics and Muscle cars were also on hand, but in small numbers.
The show had an unusually low number of cars, perhaps the cold weather kept the timid away.
Chuck and I headed to the Coast Hwy North and had a great drive home. Tim had to travel back home alone, as he is the only brave one to come from the Glendale/La Canada area, and we are glad he shows up. Anther wonderful twofer for the record.
Cheers and Ciao for now
