One benefit of LA County easing the Covid restrictions is that the Petersen Museum has resumed the Breakfast Cruise In on the last Sunday of the month. It’s limited participation; reservations must be made, masks and social distancing are required, and at least this Sunday, coffee only, no bagels.
I had talked to Dex Kaytis and Phil Caliva about the Cruise-In and Phil told me he had been too late to get a reservation. So, imagine my surprise when I arrived on the third floor and parked directly across from Dex and Phil! The wily Sicilian had managed to obtain not one, but two car reservations from friends. The spare went to his nephew who arrived in a beautiful Ghia.
The crowd was really appreciative of the owners who had brought their classic cars for them to admire.
Although numerically limited, the scope of the cars on-hand was wide-ranging. Our Austin-Healey’s were joined by a couple of other Brits: a Morgan and a Triumph TR-3.
After about 90 minutes of sharing news, telling stories, and kicking tires the three of us headed our separate ways: Phil for his shop, Dex to Orange County and watching the grandkids, and me back to Glendale.
