Well, another California Healey Week has come and gone! When I took over as President last year from Mike Scroggie, he told me, “being President is a piece of cake, you just delegate to the other Officers and Board Members. All you have to do is run Healey Week!”.
I have learned that “run” is the operative word! Thankfully we have an experienced and dedicated group of volunteers who carry most of the load during the actual event, but the pre- event workload is substantial. Mike made up a three-ring binder on “How to Run Healey Week”.
It’s a 3” thick with 28 chapters! I would have been lost without it.
Enough about the challenges. The event was a huge success with most everyone very complimentary about the hotel, schedule, food, restaurant and bar. While the latter two were a bit pricey, the offset was a great room rate.
Almost everyone came for the full four nights.
Now onward! Greg Aden has a summer full of events planned, both North and South. It’s time to get the buggy out of hibernation and hit the road, if you have not already done so. I hope to see you at some of the monthly and recurring events.
And, of course, Conclave is not right around the corner (timewise, certainly not distance-wise).
Looks like we have about 25 cars attending from our club and the San Diego Club. Pretty amazing when you consider it’s 1300+ miles each way. If you have been on the fence about this event, registrations are still being accepted. I spoke to the organizers this week and they are now expecting 300 cars! If you are interested, I would book soon before they must cut off entries due to maxing out the hotel’s banquet facilities. More info at: https://event- wizard.com/Conclave2019/0/welcome.
If you decide to sign up, drop me a note and I can perhaps help hook you up with one of several groups with different itineraries.
Happy Healeying!
