Heavy rain was predicted so I decided to depart the house @ 0400 to beat the rain. It worked out, I made it to the Indian Wells/Palm Spring area without getting wet, but boy was it COLD!!!.
I entered the grounds of the Dr. George Car Show thinking I was early, but came to realize that the show grounds we're already over half-full with about 500 cars. After settling into position with my new 1949 Chevy pickup, the search for a Chocolate/
Coffee mix was the big priority (did I mention it was really COLD !!). By the time I purchased my drink, approximately 1000 vehicles had taken their spots and the show was opened with a great rendition of the National Anthem by a wonderful lady singer.
A wide variety of cars and pickups were on display: sports cars, hot rod's, muscle cars , exotics, vintage and super cars. There were cars on exhibit by the big kit car manufacturer (HILBANK)- they build Cobras, Daytonas, early '33 Ford coupe's and now a mid-engined super car.
The weather changed after 0930 to a very pleasant t-shirt day; and how nice that made the rest of the day!!. With lot's of great beer and food vendors at the show, it gave the entrants and the big crowd of spectators an atmosphere of a picnic.
I recommend this show to all our members.
