From the President

Published on 2/1/2019

Well, we’ve launched another year, tossed out the 2018 Healey Calendar and nailed the first page of the 2019 edition to the garage wall.  From where I sit, 2019 is going to be a great year to own a Healey! Activities Director, Greg Aden, already has some outstanding events lined up, including the LA Classic Auto Show Club Display in March and a trip to Buttonwillow in May to attend the British Invasion, VARAs annual race meet dedicated to our little British cars.  Watch for details in the newsletter and via email.

Of course, the big news is the announcement that California Healey Week 2019 will be held at the Temecula Creek Inn May 13 -17.  Yes, you are seeing that correctly, that’s a Monday to Friday, a little different schedule than in years past.  After much discussion with past attendees and CHW organizers, we decided to give a mid-week event a try.  Most people who attend Healey Week are retired or at least have the discretion to take time off during the week.  Not only are the hotel rooms much cheaper than on weekends, but other venues are happy to fill their mid-week openings.  Our car show, for example, will likely be held on Main Street in Old Town Temecula on Thursday.  It would probably have been impossible to secure that site on a busy Saturday.  We will see how it goes.

We’re just putting the finishing touches on the Schedule of Events now and tidying up a few other matters like logo design, regalia pricing and such and then we will be ready to publish the official registration information.  Watch for it about the middle of February.  Don’t worry, we have plenty of hotel rooms blocked at the super price of $119 per night.

Please plan to join us all four nights.

Of course, don’t forget Conclave in Deadwood, SD in September.  It looks like we will have a good contingent from our Club going, including some who are going to ship their cars to Denver to save time and avoid the long, boring  Interstate drive.  2019 promises to be a very good year indeed! A Special Invitation from the Austin Healey Club of America Many members of our Southern California Association may not know that we are part of a larger, national organization, The Austin Healey Club of America.  While membership in the AHCA is not automatic, nor is it mandatory, becoming a member of AHCA has its benefits: • Monthly Healey Marque Magazine – full of great historical articles, tech tips and Club news from around the country.

• Annual directory with some 3,000 members listed.

Find a Healey owner wherever you travel.
