Super Car Sunday – 5/6

This month’s special Marque was German cars of the 60’s and 70’s.  The Mercedes club took that to heart and had a very representative showing of cars from that era.  The rest of the venue was rather sparse as I rolled in a few minutes after 7:00am.  I noticed another Healey, a 3000, so parked next to it.  Surprise! The car was the legendary, but unseen until now, MkII owned by member Rich Jones.  Rich has been telling Phil Caliva and yours truly for almost two years about his soon-to-be running Healey.  And today here it was.  Too bad Phil wasn’t here to see it as he went to another Sunday get together.

As it got closer to 8:00am cars kept pulling in and the parking lot started to fill to overflowing.  I took a stroll around the area getting a look at the varied cars and eras represented by the different cars.  From the Mercedes to the Pierce Arrow, the Lucra kit-car to the Lotus next to a mid-50’s Chevy, or the 1966 Asa, a less expensive offering from Ferrari; a smorgasbord of automotive history and design.

And in the months to come, hopefully we’ll see Rich’s Healey return to life as an example of British touring cars.
