As I write this column, the group going to the 2018 European Healey Meet this June in Germany is in final preparations for shipping their cars to Europe. We are dropping off twelve cars on 3/27 at the port in San Pedro for container shipment to Europe. We will then meet as a group over lunch and hear from Steve Kirby, our trip planner extraordinaire, who will present the detailed travel plans: including the itinerary, daily stops, overnight accommodations and even “turn by turn” instructions. Thus, we begin yet another “Bucket List” excursion.
The Healey’s are destined for the Holland port of Rotterdam. The group will fly about June 1st for Amsterdam, where we will drop the ladies and luggage at our hotel and proceed to the port to collect the Healey’s and return. The next day, we have lunch at the International Healey Museum just outside Amsterdam city and begin our pre- tour. We will tour through several countries on our way to Rust, Germany, where the European Healey Meet is being held. Following the Healey Meet, we proceed on the post-tour through France and back to Holland on June 23rd to drop off the cars for the voyage home. On the Solvang California Healey Week front, we now have 70 registrants and are now anticipating more than 80 by October. Should be a great event! Happy Healeying
