Belmont Shore – 10/4

Belmont Shore 20171004
It was a beautiful evening in Belmont Shore, with about 15 cars coming and going. It seemed to be a fluid bunch this month with some leaving early and others arriving late. The only club members in attendance were Chuck Lakowski and Jay Miller.

We had the usual mix of Jaguars, MGs, Triumphs and a Morris Minor. The subject that seemed to be the topic of discussion was air conditioning; with two of the cars being updated with very different approaches. Matt installed air conditioning on his MGB convertible in a process that was much more difficult than advertised. Parts didn’t fit as promised, belts needed to be upgraded, shims added, etc. But in the end, he was successful. Vigil on the other had took a much simpler approach to air conditioning his Morris Minor Panel Van. He bought an ice chest off the internet that came with the appropriate fans installed on the lid, added a larger fuse to handle the cigarette lighter style plug and then added ice. He claims that on a 96-degree day, it cools his van down to 86 degrees! He usually gets a 10 to 15-degree improvement. Ingenuity and success!
