Made the early morning run to Woodland Hills in just a long-sleeved shirt as the bright sun rose in the East and the temperature rose with it. This was the Fiat and Alfa Romeo marque day at the upper parking lot of the Promenade. Modern Fiat 500’s were there in force but it took a while before the Alfa’s started to show up.
When I arrived I expected to see Phil Caliva in one of his Alfas waiting for me but no luck. Tom Spangler was there without his bugeye and Rich Jones wandered by but Phil was still out at Trancas. So I grabbed a cup of coffee and browsed up and down the rows of cars: hot rods, American classics, modern British, exotics and of course the Alfas.
Phil finally made an appearance, pulling his Italian-yellow Alfa Romeo into the just vacated space next to my BJ7.
After checking out the lineup of Alfas and talking to various lovers of British automotive history we made our exit out of the parking lot already looking forward to next month’s gathering.
