I left Orange County a little after 6:00 am and arrived at the meet a little after 7:00. There weren't as many cars when I arrived as I'm used to, but as the morning went on more cars did arrive. I didn't see anyone else from the club even though it was a scheduled event, however not on the normal first Sunday.
The usual collection of Hot Rods, American Classics, modern cars and trucks, Lotus's, Lamborghini's, Datsun's, MG's, and so forth showed up by about 8:30 or 9:00. Guess there were about 400- 500 cars in attendance.
The fellow with the Green electric-powered Bugeye has a new car he's finished, an electric powered 914 Porsche. The body is rough, but the battery and motor installation is very clean. He says the batteries in the 914 weigh 400 pounds and last about 150 miles, where as his Sprite has 900 pounds of batteries and goes 40 or 50 miles. What a difference a few years makes in technology.
The good news is Super Car Sunday will continue to be held at this location while the mall is being remodeled. Hope to see more folks from the club next month! That’s on Sunday, February 5th.
