With the New Year, we have a new Spirit Award contest for 2017. We have made some enhancements to the contest rules…additional points are earned for submitting an article $nonrecurring% for the newsletter, hosting a club event $like a Tech Session% and recruiting a new club member. See the 2017 rules documented in this issue.
There are two upcoming events of note in Orange County, The San Juan Capistrano Car Show on February 4th and the Dana Point Festival of Whales British Invasion on March 11th & 12th $see upcoming events or go to the website%. The SJC show is put on by the Rotary and is held at the community center/Sports Park, which is dog friendly. We’ll meet at the Starbucks on Del Obispo beforehand and drive over as a group. The Festival of Whales in March again is a two"day event $including an overnight, if desired% in the harbor, limited to 30 cars each day. Everyone who attended last year had a great time. I will get a notice out soon with the signup instructions and directions.
At last count, we had 31 club members signed up for the big Monterey International Healey event on September 11"15th, organized by the Golden Gate Healey club. The AHASC has agreed to organize and run the Rocker Cover Racing event. So, plan to get your rocker racers ready and plan to attend a Tech Session later this spring to build or tune up your racer.
I am sorry to report the passing of two of our members over the past few months, Ed English and Larry Mattox. See the memorials to them in this issue.
Happy Healeying!
