Super Car Sunday - 9/4

This Sunday was the middle of a three-day Holiday weekend and I wondered what kind of a turnout would there be in Woodland Hills. On the drive west I went under a big black cloud that contained enough moisture that I needed to turn on the wipers. Luckily the rain held off and I made it to West Oield’s Topanga Plaza where I saw Dex and Peggy Kaytis in the parking lot with Peggy’s new purchase, a yellow BugEye that had been one of Greg Aden’s. Dex said that he and Peggy had been headed north on PCH to Trancas Canyon when they ran into a light drizzle. With a rain squall coming in from the ocean Dex decided to turn east on Topanga Canyon and come to Super Car Sunday.

Last month’s lack of Maserati’s was made up for by Auto Gallery, who had a large display of cars from their dealership along with a number of Maserati’s that were brought by their owners. In addition, there were the usual suspects: Mustangs, Corvettes, muscle cars, and high-performance models. I saw a classic El Dorado and another Cadillac from the 30’s with rumble seat and convertible top, a classic Nash Rambler and a cute little Mini. This event is always good for the unusual or unique. I even met another Air Force retiree who had been stationed at Loring AFB in Limestone, Maine like me; though his choice of car was the new Camaro!

Next month’s points day is October 2nd and the Marque will be Porsche. Sunday, November 6th will be the next opportunity for points at Super Car Sunday and this is important – it will be for European Cars pre-1970!
