Petersen Museum Breakfast Cruise-In 8/28

Woke to a slightly overcast cool morning. Headed south through Hollywood to the Petersen. Wanted to get there early, before Phil Caliva showed up. Surprise, I was the first Healey on scene and one of the first cars to show up. Soon Russ Thompson and Joyce arrived in Russ’ black 3000; then Tom Spangler arrived in his BugEye. As more cars arrived and the coffee and bagels were being put out I spotted Dexter Kaytis and grandson in Peggy’s new yellow BugEye. Had them move the car over to join us and spotted Phil, but no “nasty boy”. Phil said he had some kind of electrical short that he could smell so he made a quick trip to his shop, parked the Healey, and came in his modern pickup.

The Museum had on display a 1936 Delahaye Roadster that had just been to the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. Even more surprising was the 1951 Fiat 1100 Vignale Coupe’ that had also just returned from Pebble Beach Concours and was driven in by its owner. There was the usual mixture of American cars through the decades, European and Japanese sports cars and the unique; like the 1932 Light Eight Packard Roadster, the 1951 Studebaker Champion, the Le Mans winner 1965 Iso Bizzarrini GTO, the Morris Woodie and the McLaren street machine. The scene is always good for a rarity or the unusual and the conversations are worth the early morning drive.

So come and enjoy free coffee, Bagels and schmear, and like minded car enthusiasts on the last Sunday of each month.
