The Belmont Car Show, was again a great show for participants and spectators alike! My cousin Sergio, from Palermo, drove the Alfa GTV again with his son Giuseppe (13 years old), I took his other son David (9 years old) in my Nasty Boy. The drive from Hermosa Beach to Belmont Shore is always a driving experience treat: there’s nothing like Olying down PCH on a clear day. We started our walkabout through the 2nd St show area and saw a couple of BugEyes but didn’t spot the owners. A great variety of Hot Rod’s, Muscle Car’s, and Vintage Cars were on display (great eye candy). We approached the east end of 2nd St and found a great display of Patriotism. The local OireOighters had hoisted a giant Garrison American Flag from the high ladder of their Oire truck and also had a display of a piece of I-beam and gussets that had been rescued from the ashes of the N.Y. World Trade Center. A great tribute to the fallen of 9/11. This show has been one of my favorites for at least the last 20 years of attending with various vehicles.
I estimate around 30,000 plus spectators walked the show, this is spectacular. I have to give Dexter and Peggy Kaytis credit for making an appearance and spending time with us; also Jay and Katie Miller who showed up with their Healey and parked outside the show area. I think these folks deserve one point for showing up and bonding with US!!!
Again Austin Healey Members, get out and drive those lovely Little British Cars.
