It was a dark and foggy morning as Clay and I made our way down from Glendale to Newport Beach in our Austin- Healeys. Visibility was low.
Clay’s rear running lights weren’t working but luckily his fog lamps were, so Clay drove in front to illuminate the road, and I drove in back to give some rear taillights. It was dicey, but we made it! This was my first time taking my Bugeye to Crystal Cove. As a rookie, I tried to park in front of Blk Dot Coffee and was quickly asked to move my car to make way for the “real” coffee customers. Ouch! Since we were eating next door, I moved Baby ASAP... better not anger the locals.
After parking we were quickly greeted by Phil Caliva and Bob Bolling. Next arrivals were John Hummer and Alice Johnson, Nancy Asahina and Steve Schryver, George McHarris, Dick Ames, Steve Heck and Steve McIntosh.
After walking around a bit, Clay, Phil, Bob and I sat down for a tasty breakfast at the Parakeet Café. My breakfast croissant sandwich was delish! We had a surprise visit from some friends from Frank’s Cars in the Hood; Victor “Super Mex” Macias and Dimitros Kouzoukas.
It turned out to be a great show. A lot of very high- end cars, which isn’t surprising, given the expensive neighborhood. I’m not going to lie, after a few comments were made about LA people ruining the event in the past, I decided it would be wise to keep my city of origin, LA, to myself. LOL!
