From the President

Only a couple more shopping weeks till Christmas. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving surrounded by family, friends and lots of great food. As for Christmas, there is still time to get your special loved one’s new car parts, cleaning supplies, new bling or just take them out for a drive. As it’s getting colder and wetter, you’ll have time in the garage to spend some quality time together. It is a perfect time to drive around the neighborhoods to check out the lights and decorations. May want to take your significant other with you on your drive, maybe with some hot chocolate and a warm blanket - make an adventure out of it. I am sure you will be quite a sight driving around in your iconic cars while enjoying each other’s company.

Turkey Run- For those of you who missed it, Peter Roses lead us on another great Turkey Run.

We went through the local San Gabriel mountains just after the last storm and even had a light snow flurry, making great memories with our Healey friends and family. We had seven cars on the trip. We are talking about another one in the spring. Stay tuned.

Holiday Party- Only a couple more weeks until our Holiday party. As in the past, we will be hosting it at the Shoreline Yacht Club in downtown Long Beach. The party is planned for Sunday, December 14th, so please mark your calendars. We are up to 59 folks planning to attend so far. This is a great opportunity for our new members to meet other like-minded Healey fans and make connections for future technical and social events, and also kick around some ideas for drives in the spring.

CHW 2026- CHW 2026 is a little more than five months away- As a reminder: CHW 2026 will be held in San Diego at the Island Palms Resort and Marina on Shelter Island. The festivities are planned for May 5th to 9th so check your calendars and sign up. We have 32 attendees signed up so far. Steve Kirby has worked up a great venue and a great price for us and is working with the San Diego Austin Healey Club on some great drives. As with all of Steve’s planned activities, it will be a lot of fun. I hope to see you there.

Person of Interest- So I want to start a new section in our newsletter. We know a little about each other but would like to get to know each other and what brought us to the Healey Family, so starting next month I plan to introduce you to a VERY interesting character who I am sure everyone knows- Phil Caliva. It will help you to get to know him even better than you may already do, from his early days in a small town in Sicily- Piana Degli Albanesi near Palermo to Argentina and on to Southern California. And how he became a driver/owner of an Indy car team and to the amazing soul we have all come to call our friend. Stay tuned. He has had an amazing life and, thanks to Nancy, stayed on the straight and narrow.

New Members- Please join me in welcoming two new members- Ron Weaver and Edward Logue III. Ron hails from La Verne and has a 67 BJ8 Mk III and Edward hails from Wrightwood. Welcome Gentlemen! Annual membership renewals- As a reminder, Mike Scroggie just sent out a note about renewing your local membership for 2026. If you have not joined the national club, please consider joining. They work very hard to plan and coordinate some great Healey events, publish a world class magazine and are starting Zoom based tech sessions lead by some very knowledgeable and experienced Healey folks As always, when considering having work done on your cars, please consider our sponsors. They help our club and provide rare (albeit vanishing) and needed services and products.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and as always, safe motoring and stay well!
