Inland Empire Farmer Boys 3/2

Greetings Group, I was planning on low attendance for our first Saturday of the month event because we were having another weekend storm system move through the Inland Empire. Rain was definitely forecast. Bill Wilkman was very concerned because he wanted to show off and share his recently finished Austin Healey Bugeye project. I told him I would appeal to the rain gods to give us a break but not to bet on it.

It was raining steady in Redlands when we left for Riverside.

It was flooding in San Timoteo Canyon. There was muddy water, gravel, sand and debris Ilowing across the road. Then, as we neared the 60 and 215 interchange in Moreno Valley the rain let up. The skies became lighter. A small patch of blue sky started to peek out between the dark clouds. It looked like it was right over our destination at Farmer Boys, and it was. My request had been answered. The angels sang.

When we pulled into Farmer Boys there was Bill's Bugeye.

The only classic that dared to come. We ended up with good weather and a good group, but in more sensible cars for the weather forecast. Bill's 1958 Sprite was looking great. Tom Colby at Speedwell Engineering had finished an engine and transmission rebuild. The front and rear suspension were rebuilt. The brakes, clutch and radiator were rebuilt. He even found and fixed stress cracks in the frame. Bill is super pleased with the results and says it drives like a new car. It's so good when the wait is worth it. Congratulations Bill.

Kudos to Tom Colby.

Tom Yaeger brought a Show and Tell. A unique socket set.

Not 3/8" or 1/2" drive but Hex. The allen wrench looking piece is actually an extension or breaker bar. You Ilip the ratchet over to select install or remove. Pretty cool.
